Cricket: Montana Score 655 in 50 overs!

Hoërskool Montana’s second cricket team provided a great deal of excitement during their league match against Hoërskool Akasia.

IMG 8707Montana batted first and managed to score an incredible 655 runs, at a run rate of 13.1 runs per over! During this batting spree they only lost two wickets in the 50 overs that that batted for.

Akasia found the going even harder when it was their turn to bat and were quickly bundled out for a paltry 74 runs. Montana won the match by a whopping 581 runs!

The star with the bat was definitely Montana’s opening batter Micky du Plessis. This Grade 12 boy spent approximately 200 minutes at the crease and piled on an unprecedented 355 runs off the 166 balls he faced. Micky ended this innings after have bashed a total of 54 fours and 10 sixes!

Reinhard Koeglenberg , Grade 9 player, also shone out with a stunning 124 runs off only 88 balls which included 23 fours. Dian Lucas was Montana’s best bowler and he claimed three wickets for just 18 runs. The other bowlers Dawie Nel, Dylan Ward and Gerhard Oberholzer (all Grade 10) managed two wickets a piece.

Congratuations to these Monties who put on an excellent performance of unforgettable cricket.
