Back You are here: Home Sports Cricket Kwa Zulu Natal MOSIKILI TAKES FIVE FOR ONE FOR FREE STATE!
Thursday, 16 December 2010 14:18

(Potchefstroom 16 December 2010) Six Accolades - two for bowling and four for batting -- were awarded on a rain-interrupted fourth day of the Standard Bank Cricket Week in Potchefstroom on Wednesday.
Because of rain in the morning, no play was possible until after lunch, and the scheduled 50-over matches were reduced to 36 overs.

Probably the performance of the day - maybe the performance of a lifetime! - came from Free State's Jerry Mosikili, who took an astounding five for one to help his side bowl KwaZulu Natal Inland out for a paltry 43.
Because of Mosikili's remarkable performance, Mark Hulbert's outstanding five for eight for Zimbabwe against Griquas was slightly overshadowed. On any other day, he would probably have been the bowler of the day.
Eduard Fouche won his second batting Accolade by scoring 53 to help Mpumalanga to 121/6 in their four wicket victory over Eastern Province.
The match between North West and Gauteng yielded two batting Accolades - one for each side. Lesego Senokwane won his second Accolade (his previous was for bowling) with a score of 53 for North West, helping them to a winning score of 154/7, while Tristan Blackie-Roden made 50 of Gauteng's 152 runs.
The top scorer of the day was Gavin Morris of KwaZulu Natal, who made 65 in their match against Border. KZN made 151 and beat Border by 21 runs.
Accolades are awarded every day, with each Accolade winner receiving a certificate.  The top bowler and batsman each day receive a trophy they can take home.
