U15 Cricket: The Top 40 Rankings for 01/10/2014

Take a look at this week’s Powerade Performance U15 Cricket Rankings.

In October 2013 over 11 000 cricketers from over 650 schools started on their journey to represent their respective franchise in the national finals of the Coca-Cola® T20 Schools Challenge.  The grueling qualifiers are now over and Grey College (Knights), St Stithians College (Lions), Waterkloof Hoerskool (Titans), Kingwood College (Warriors), Wynberg Boys’ High (Cobras) and Westville High School (Dolphins) will lock horns at the Tuks High Performance Centre, Pretoria, from the 3rd to the 5th October.

Steady progress by Hilton College, who enjoyed a hugely successful tour of Zimbabwe where they won the Ram Slam T20 Tournament, sees them climb into the Top 10 for the first time this year in the Powerade Performance First XI Rankings.

THE indications are that the Maritzburg College first XI are raring to go for the Oppenheimer Cricket Week, but there are a couple of hurdles to overcome first.

Cricket Results and Fixtures for the Week ending 27th September, 2014 here:

Like the U15’s and First XI Rankings we find Waterkloof at the very top of the U14 Powerade Performance Rankings after the resumption of the season in 2014.

The U15 Powerade Performance Rankings takes on more importance as the season gets underway in earnest in this week but already there is a familiar look with Waterkloof way out in front with an unbeaten record so far in 2014.

A comprehensive win by St. Stithians over St. Johns College kept them in the hunt for the top spot in the Powerade Performance First XI Rankings but it is still Waterkloof who keep extending their mammoth unbeaten run who hold on to the number one position.

Cricket gradually starts to take centre stage in more weekend sports of more schools this week and if the weather is favorable there will be plenty of opportunity to get some early form in.

Cricket resumes this week although most of the school’s are still preparing for the various festivals and tournaments that will take place next month.

A highly successful St. David’s T20 Festival has seen a few teams move on the Powerade Performance Cricket Rankings although most of the school’s are yet to resume playing after a long wait for the rugby season to end.

For many schools this week reignites the cricket season and a chance to dust off the cobwebs and start gearing up for an action packed few months.

Cricket: Fixtures for the St.Davids T20 Festival

Cricket season resumes this week with a swashbuckling T20 Festival at St.David’s Inanda that will once again attract some of the country’s top cricketing teams.

It is said that whilst raw talent requires finishing touches, it is never too early to monitor outstanding prospects.  Jon Kent took up the game of cricket at the age of eight and was soon identified as a natural with both bat and ball. Representing Natal u18 in both cricket and hockey for two years, he made his First-Class debut for the Dolphins in the 1997/98 season and went on to represent the Proteas in two One Day Internationals versus Australia.

As the curtain closes on what has been a great first term cricket season we take a look at how the rankings stand for the u14, u15 and 1st XI teams and try to gauge which schools are leading the sport in the SA Schools Combined Depth Rankings.

U15 Cricket: The First Term Top 35 Rankings

The Waterkloof U15 side look well set to end up as the top side in South Africa after completing their First Term season in the No.1 position which they have held virtually from the start of the year.

SIX top schools will be competing against one another in the Coca-Cola Twenty20 Schools tournament in Pretoria this weekend, weather permitting.

As the last rights of the First Term Cricket season play out there is a familiar name at the top of the rankings and they have been in that position virtually from the start of the year.

Some important matches remain in the school cricket season which will allow some of the teams to finish their first term campaign in a stronger position.

There are several schools’ that will be fairly confident that they will be able field some strong First XI’s in the near future.

Cricket season has just about run its course for the first term although there are still a few key matches that need to be played before we are engulfed by non-stop rugby that will take us up to September.

U14 Cricket: The Latest U14 Rankings

Wynberg slip out of the top three after taking one on the chin by Affies who managed to play their best cricket of the season as they edged out the Cape side with a two wicket win.

The cricket season still has some life in it before we are hit by the school rugby tidal wave and there are several interesting encounters that will be played out this week.

U15 Cricket: The SA Schools Top 35 Rankings

A very successful ISCF hosted by St. Stithians produced several key results and allowed some cross-provincial clashes which tested both batter and bowler against some of the toughest opposition in the U15 age group.

For the third week in a row it is Waterkloof who reign supreme at the top of the SA Schools Rankings after having played 14 matches without tasting defeat so far in 2014.
