Cricket: Pacemen Aplenty in KZN Midlands

Cricket history is littered with the tales of fast bowlers winning Test matches and more. You can score 1000 runs in a match but if you can't take 10 or 20 wickets - depending on the format of the game and other variables like declarations - you're not going to win many.

Hilton College’s rise to the top of school cricket in South Africa has been refreshing for the alumni of this famed school but it’s no accident and comes after a committed investment in setting up expert coaching during the past few years.

The U15 Cricket Rankings displays a distinct leaning towards the Eastern and Western Cape with only KES from Gauteng able to place amongst the top five.

Maritzburg College came down to earth with a bump last week after their crushing win over St.Charles College, which included several centurions.

As the final matches for the 2017 season get played we have a very settled table for this week’s First XI Belgotex Sports Top 60 rankings.

As the 2017 season draws to a close we have the usual suspects challenging for the top spots and this week it is still St.Stithians who are the leading team on the First XI Belgotex Sports Top 60 Rankings.

The Cricket results from around South Africa:

SACS lost a bit of traction on the top of the table following a draw with Rondebosch but not enough to knock them off the No.1 spot on this week’s U14 Belgotex Sports Rankings.

Rondebosch move up a place on the table into the top three on this week’s U15 Belgotex Sports Rankings after taking on a strong SACS team and outplaying them.

St Stithians are the leading team in South Africa for the moment although a quick look at the latest First XI Belgotex Sports Rankings clearly reveals that the teams in the top section of the table are very close with a result either way capable of causing some impact.

All this week’s school cricket matches from around the country.

A massive 165 runs not out by SACS batsman Michael Levitt who shared a 200 runs partnership with James Rowden-Turner helped to clinch an emphatic win over Bishops and cement SACS at the top of the U14 Belgotex Sports Rankings for this week.

Wynberg took a couple of steps upwards on this week’s Belgotex Sports U15 Rankings after a convincing win over neighbours Rondebosch and are well placed in the top 10 zone.

Hilton College rise to the top of this week’s Belgotex Sports First XI Top 60 Rankings although they are joined there with St. Stithians who have led from the start of the year.

All this week’s school cricket matches from around the country.

The U14 SACS side stay in control of the leader board on this week’s rankings after completing a comfortable win over Paarl Boys High during the past week.

St Stitihians came close to slipping on the proverbial banana skin when they faced a motivated St.Benedicts team who were in no mood to bow down to the leading team in the country.

The School Cricket season is in full swing with most of the teams in action this weekend.

Jeppe have hit their straps during the past few weeks, peeling off victory after victory which has helped the Johannesburg team move into the second spot on this week’s Belgotex Sports U14 Cricket Rankings.

Rondebosch U15 team have made some important gains up the table and are good value for their 3rd position on this week’s U15 Belgotex Sports Rankings.
