Three years ago an article on a little known 12 year old cricketer living in Zimbabwe read, “…Wesley Madhevere is a name that is likely to set the stage alight in international cricket if the right mentorship and resources are invested in this 12 year old from Chitungwiza.”

The season has hardly begun and already some teams have notched up a dozen matches thanks to the various Independent Schools, Cape Schools, Grey High School and other festivals.

Northerns are the unofficial champions of the 2016 Coca-Cola Khaya Majola Week.

There is going to be a new wearer of the unofficial Coca-Cola Khaya Majola Week crown this year after the hosts, Free State, take on Northerns at the Manguang Oval in the week’s main game on Tuesday.

Day three of the Coca-Cola Khaya Majola Week is always given over to T20 matches. Each side played two games – 16 in all – so there were a plethora of scores to sift through at the end of the day and, from those, three individual achievements stand out.

The Coca-Cola Khaya Majola Week continued in Bloemfontein yesterday with the second round of time (declaration) cricket matches being played.

The start of the 22nd annual under-19 Coca-Cola Khaya Majola in Bloemfontein was delayed by an hour on Thursday at four of the eight venues after a massive overnight thunderstorm resulted in wet run-ups, waterlogged outfields and some water leaking under the covers.

Affies are poised to end the 2016 year as the leading team in the country as they continue to lead the Belgotex Top 50 Rankings this week.

SACS are back on the top of the Belgotex U14 Rankings after yet another victory, this time over Wynberg which extends their brilliant unbeaten run this year.

As the final matches of the season get played out there is a tight bunching at the top of the ladder which still sees Affies at the top closely followed by St. Stithians.

Cricket: This Week's Results: 5/11/2016

A wet weekend around the country meant that few games started and even less finished although there were several matches that yielded a results earlier in the week.

As the season begins its final wind down we are looking at St Andrews School as the leading team in the competitive U15 Rankings for this week.

Affies enjoyed a couple of strong wins during the past week which has helped to keep them at the top of the Belgotex First Team Rankings for this week, although St.Stithians are within reach of clinching the top spot if they can keep their unbeaten run intake.

Watching a recent U10 cricket match played between two fairly competitive sides it was clear that one of the teams had a distinct advantage. It wasn’t that they batted better or bowled any better than the opposition. They simply were virtually flawless in the way they fielded.

Rain had the final say in many matches that got underway over the past week but there were still several key clashes played that yielded some interesting results.

Pretoria Boys High put together one of their best performances of the year when they took on high flying KES and managed to clinch a 5 wicket victory which sees them leap into the top five on this week’s Belgotex Sports U14 Rankings.

St Andrews School continue to reign supreme on the Belgotex Sports U15 Rankings for this week after completing a strong win over Clifton thanks for a sparkling century by Bruwer.

The Affies machine continued their form with a strong showing against Grey College who put on a brave fight but finally went down by three wickets. The win consolidates Affies position as the leading team in SA at present.

There has been plenty of cricket played across the country with some big scores being achieved which suggests the batters had the edge this weekend.

KES remain at the top of the U14 Cricket Rankings for this week although it is getting very tight at the top of the rankings with several teams all in with a shout to finish the year on top of the table.

St Andrews School in Bloemfontein are looking very strong at this stage of the season as they reach the top of the table in this week’s Belgotex Sport U15 Rankings.

Affies remain the leading team on the SA School Belgotex First XI Rankings after completing a 7 wicket win over neighbours Pretoria Boys High.
