First XI Cricket: This Week's Rankings: 4/02/2020

Grey High School ‘came, saw and conquered’ with their brief sortie into the Western Cape going home with three wins out of three to maintain their unbeaten run and slide into the top spot on this week’s rankings.

George van Heerden proved to have the staying power for Grey HS when they took on Rondebosch and his unbeaten 78 runs helped to end ‘Bosch’s hopes of a win and was again amongst the runs in the Wynberg match.

SACS made short work of Paul Roos Gym as they extended their undefeated run of form and remain strong contenders to remain amongst the leading teams in 2020.

Another unbeaten team is Kearsney College who must be enjoying one of their finest starts to a cricket season in many years and will be looking forward to their clash against Hilton College in a couple of weeks’ time, a match that should decide who is bossing KZN cricket this year.

Hilton College’s Slade-Lee van Staden, still only in Grade 11 slammed his way to his 8th century for the first team (109) as the Hilton top order set a strong total for Maritzburg College to chase. However, Ross Kluesener and Kent Goedeke steadied the ship for the Pietermaritzburg team with well-crafted half centuries to share the spoils with Hilton.

Zakhele Sibanda was in fine for with the ball for Jeppe as his 5/59 helped in his team’s win over Affies and Wynberg’s Jesse Prodehl was handy with bat and ball in their win over Durbanville, notching up another 50 and taking 4/14.
