Golf: Greg McKay Wins U23 Tournament

Fifteen-year-old Greg McKay demonstrated his extraordinary talent when he won a provincial under 23 golf tournament last week.

Greg, who is in Grade 10 at Kearsney College in Botha’s Hill, won the KZN under 23 Strokeplay Tournament at San Lameer Golf Club on the KZN South Coast.

Bruce Thompson, master in charge of golf at the school, said Greg was an extremely talented sportsman, who worked hard at his game.

“He deserves success and is to be congratulated on this superb victory,” Thompson said.

Greg RoystonKearsney College’s Greg Royston has had a successful week on the golf courses around the country.

On Sunday he placed 2nd on three under par in the KZN u23 Open at Mt Edgecombe Country Club and has been selected for the KZN u23 team to play at Interprovincials later this year.

Last week he made the cut at the SA Amateur at Oubaai, and went on to finish tie 50th on a score of eight over par for the four rounds. Considering that many of these players are looking at turning professional during the year, this is a great performance from a Matric student.
