Golf: Kearsney Wins "A" League

Kearsney College has won the Durban & Districts A golf league again this year - with two matches to spare. It is the third time in four years that they have won the competition.

Golf1 After beating Clifton and Glenwood last week, Kearsney now has two matches to play, but remains in an unbeatable position to ensure it has won the league in 2009, 2011 and 2012.

Bruce Thompson, master in charge of golf, said this was really a great honour for the boys and the school.

“Our boys have shown that we have depth and can compete admirably against our opposition. We have only lost two games this season and still have two tough games to play. But I am confident our boys will pull through in those matches as well,” he said.

Three Kearsney boys have achieved KZN selection through hard work on the course this year.

Greg Royston made the KZN A side, James Kennedy narrowly missed out on the A side but made the B side, and Greg McKay received a deserved call up to the B side after finishing just 0.2 shots out of the initial team.

After Hilton, Kearsney has the second most players represented in the KZN teams.
