November's Letter from the Editor

nov mag copyYou’ve heard me say it before. Chances are you’ve probably seen it printed in our magazine. What I’m alluding to is our motto: Tomorrows Stars Today.

Through the past four years, we’ve taken great pride following this philosophy of excellence.

But as they say, change is inevitable, and beginning now, we’re rolling out a new addition. Tomorrow Stars Today. Your Schools. Your Magazine. Your Website. Your Voice.

As you know, we’ve spent the past year beefing up our Web coverage. This has now given thousands more the opportunity to not only keep up with school sports but also give feedback on the articles and to express their viewpoints. Remaining in touch with school sports has never been easier.

If you haven’t checked us out yet, I encourage you to go to Every week, and often daily, you will find updates, recaps and previews. We also deliver an informative weekly newsletter via email filled with photo gallery links, spotlight features, and SASS exclusives.

So what does this have to do with our new mantra? It means we want you to get involved – both with the print magazine and online. As you can imagine, we can’t be everywhere at once. We rely on your feedback, story tips and contributions to help us provide an enriching magazine.

But that’s not all. We want to be your online source too.

Our goal moving forward is not only to continue to give you a fantastic print publication which you can’t live without, but also a website you can’t go without and a newsletter you can’t wait to browse through.

To help us achieve this goal, we want to hear from you. Contact us anytime with your ideas – this also means stories of local school standouts too – at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. .

If you’re a motivated student looking for a chance to get your writing read by thousands and want non-stop professional experience opportunities, this is your chance to get in the game as well. If you’re a responsible school student trying to get an insight into the field of sports journalism as a writer or a photographer, we’d like you to join our talented pool of non-paid high school writers for the fast approaching 2012 sports season.

As our previous high school interns will attest, there’s never a shortage of opportunities. We have the platforms available for your voice to be heard.

Who know, you could be the one writing about Heather Klug or covering the Oppenheimer Cricket Week or updating us on Naas Botha’s quest to become the next Springbok coach!

We want “Your Voice” to be heard. SASS wants you!
