Rowing: St.Mary's Waverley- Leading SA Rowing

St Mary’s School, Waverley have long been one of the leading rowing schools in the country and at the recent SA Schools Rowing Champs they once again showed that they are a serious force to be reckoned with.

The St Marys 2014 rowing teamAlthough this past weekend saw St Mary’s School, Waverley, relinquishing the title of seven times winner of the South African Schools’ Rowing Championships to a deserving St Andrew’s School team, they did enough to show that they have great depth amongst their rowers.

St Mary’s has much to brag about on completion of the championships.  Both the St Mary’s U15 and U16s won their age group categories. The U15 A quad broke the course record to claim the gold medal, as did the U16s doubles pair comprising Lisa Heyneke and Constandina Protopappas.  A gold medal also went to the U14 doubles pair (Emma Pringle and Emma Quiding). The U14 A , the U16 A and Open A quads were all awarded silver medals for their efforts
