SURFING: Crawford North Coast KZN Champs!

Crawford College North Coast proved, without a doubt, that they are currently the best surfing school in KwaZulu-Natal.

crawfordAfter defeating DHS by one point, in a nail-biting final last year, the pressure was on the school’s best surfers to prove that 2011’s success was no fluke.

The season’s fixtures resulted in Crawford College North Coast A and Northwood A finishing tie in first place at the top of the KZNSSL log. Recently, the top five teams qualified for the grand finale, which took place at Dairy Beach in Durban. It is amazing to note that the Crawford College North Coast B team finished 5th on the log and denied past powerhouse schools like DHS and Glenwood an opportunity to make the coveted grand finale.

The conditions on the final were incredibly testing with strong winds, rough seas and dangerous currents wreaking havoc on the contestants. Clever strategy and excellent surfing proved to be the difference between the teams in the final. The sponsors, Sanuk, Skull Candy and Far King ensured that the podium finishers took home some lavish prizes in conjunction with the floating trophy. The final team standings for 2012 were as follows:

  1. Crawford North Coast A
  2. Northwood A
  3. St. Henry’s
  4. Westville A
  5. Crawford North Coast B
