Hoër Meisieskool Paarl Excel on Netball court

It wasn’t all doom and gloom for the western side of Paarl this past weekend as at least the Hoer Meisieskool Paarl put on a winning performance on the netball courts.

The HMS was from the outset in charge of their match against Paarl Gimmies and gradually built up a solid lead to eventually win by 25-16. The victory was largely due to a brilliant game played in the middle of the court by Shannon Barlett and accurate goal shooting by Adri van Heerden and Louise Louw.

The Gimmie’s hockey teams perhaps laid a solid foundation on the Saturday morning for the rugby team’s success by winning four out of their six important matches , while Boishaai only managed to come out tops in one of their clashes.

The U19 A matches for both the girls and boys followed an almost identical pattern: Gimmies at the outset were on top and then in the second half HJSP came back strongly. However it was Elmarko Stoman who managed to score the winning goal and the only goal of the match to hand Gimmies the victory against the run of play.

The girls match was characterised by some poor finishing from both sides, which meant that the battle ended 0-0. There were some standout performances from Tasha van den Aardweg and Saskiea Bester from the Hoer Meiseskool.
