Maritzburg College Too Good in the Mud for PBHS

Maritzburg College took another step forward in their quest to get back amongst the Top 10 teams with an impressive win against Pretoria Boys High School.

On a saturated Goldstones College put on a display of typical committed rugby and were worthy winners at the end running away with it 17-9 at the end.

In atrocious conditions there was always going to be mistakes and it was College who benefited the most from them. First there was wild pass from PBHS which led to captain Ungerer grabbing hold of the ball and running in the first of College's three tries without a finger being laid on him.

Credit to PBHS who gamely continued to smash College back in the rucks and mauls and for their efforts won several penalties, three of which they managed to kick over via the boot of scrumhalf O'Grady.

We all know about the Sharks and Springbok winger Lwazi Mvovo, but there was another Lwazi who set up a wonderful try for College. Lwazi Sithole showed some blistering pace in the mud to burst through a gap in the Pretoria Boys defence and sprint 40 odd meters in a great individual try.

The final College try was scored by big lock Odendaal who benefited from some powerful play by the forwards who in the mud and rain were probably the strongest pack on the park and worked hard right up to full time.
