SA Schools Rugby Hammer Namibia!

The South African Schools side on Saturday ran in 14 tries as they comprehensively outclassed the Namibian Under-19 in their 92-21 victory at the Raiders Rugby Club in Johannesburg. The hosts dominated their opponents in all facets of play. They were superior up front, controlled the breakdown and spread the ball out wide to their speedy wings throughout the game.

The flyhalf Johan Goosen dictated play with his excellent ball skills, while the centre combination of William Small-Smith and Andile Jho regularly troubled their opponents on defence.

SA Schools wing Leroy Bitterhout ran in three tries.

Johan Goosen notched up 28 points after he scored two tries and converted nine while his team-mate Paul Jordaan added two conversions late in the second half.

William Small-Smith, who will further his rugby career with Paul Treu's Springbok Sevens squad from 2011, captained the SA Schools side and ran in one of his side's tries.

Andile Jho and Paul Jordaan also added their names to the try-scorers sheet as did wing JP Lewis, No.8 Nardus van der Waldt, scrumhalf Rudi van Rooyen, replacement scrumhalf Kevin Luiters, substitute centre Tshotsho Mbovane and reserve hooker Anrich Bitzi.

The Namibia Under-19 managed to run in three tries which were scored by Ranthony Bekker, Nico de Jager and Jurie Loois. The tries were converted by Daniel Bock (2) and Chase Diergaardt.

Afterwards William Small-Smith said: "We struggled in the initial stages of the game to find our momentum due to the fact that the guys only spent a few days together preparing for the game.

"However after we found our rhythm we ended up playing some champagne rugby. The guys enjoyed the outing and I am very happy with the way things went. We scored some great tries and compliments to the team for putting on a great show on Saturday.

"Every player in our squad was given an opportunity we are all very happy with the experience."
