Chad le Clos Shines on Day 1

Ace swimmer Chad le Clos of Westville Boys was on top form at the SA Senior National Champs and 2010 Commonwealth Games Trials. Looking to stamp his dominance in the pool this year Chad was the pick of the competitors and should be a shoe in for the Games.

le Clos powered his way past title- holder Seb Rousseau over the last 50 metres to win the men's 200m butterfly in 1:56.86. This was 0.81 seconds faster than the qualifying time for the Games and equalled Le Clos' personal best. The 18 year old Westville Boys High learner said "You can't possibly know how I feel at this moment! There is so much pressure on us to reproduce times we set previously with the new suits."

This was a perfect birthday present fro the young man who turned 18 on Monday and it is also the first time he has won a senior national title. Westville Boys have produced something spectacular in the swimming pool for decades now...there must be something in the water there!
