Tamlyn started swimming at a competitive level from the age of 7,training in the early mornings at temperatures of a chilly 17C. Tamlyns dedication and determination in her swimming was pretty much set in stone from there.


Tamlyn has a long history of records still unbeaten in the Freestate province where she hails from, but when she started swimming in the Eastern Cape as a grade 9 pupil at Kingswood College she quietly went about the business of smashing E.P and School records.

At her first school Championship gala Tamlyn set about the task of smashing eleven of the possible thirteen school records.At provincial level in the same year Tamlyn set three new EP records in the 50 back,100 back and 50 fly.

In the following year 2011 in an International Invitational gala Tamlyn was placed 8th in the 50m backstroke swimming against swimmers from England,Brazil,USA,Tazmania and the best of SA swimmers.Tamlyn continued to move up the rankings and after the Prestige National Level 3 gala Tamlyn was selected on her qualifying times for the Junior SA squad,she however didn’t have the privilege of competing for SA.

Tamlyn has qualified to swim at Senior Nationals since the age of 13 making semi-finals(top16) and finals(top8)every year in various events.

Tamlyn has received numerous accolades and trophys each year from Eastern Province Aquatics and her club Aquabear to date but the most memerouble being the award for highest FINA points scored in an event.

Tamlyn continues to produce top times in South Africa and her rankings for numerous events has taken her to placing at the top of the pack.Tamlyn is also the current holder of thirteen Eastern Province records from girls 15 to Open,her best performances are in the 50 back 30.60;50 free 27.35;50 fly 28.97;100 back 106.01;200 back 2.27.35 this making her a very versatile swimmer.

Tamlyns long term ambitions are to obviously represent SA at any event but most specifically at the Olympic games,her short term goals are to study and swim where she has been offered a full scholarship at a University in America.
