Waterpolo: SACS Tournament Final Day

It was St.John's College who had taken the early advantage in the tournament in the first two days and many were tipping the Johannesburg outfit to take the title.

Having survive the first two days without relinquishing their unbeaten status it looked like St. Johns were destined to return home as the undisputed champions of SA Schools waterpolo.

However in a tight match against KES the wheels finally came off for St.Johns and then in a shock result they were bundled out of the tournament by St. Stithians who beat them 3-1 in the quarter finals.

The path was now clear for Bishops, KES, SACS and Pretoria Boys to fight it out for top honors and they provided for some of the most exciting semi finals ever seen.

At the end it was Bishops and Pretoria Boys who slugged it out in the final and with the lead changing several times it was always going to be a very tight match. Yet it was PBHS who seemed to finish the strongest and were deserved winners of the final, beating a gallant Bishops outfit 4-3.

Credit to SACS for producing yet another top class tournament and showcasing some of the finest school water polo in the country.
